Massage therapy at Art of Mobility, at a glance. Your first visit is a 60-minute assessment and treatment with a registered massage therapist, and follow-ups are 30, 45, 60 or 75 minutes. Our sessions are movement-based, so wear shorts and a tank top or sports bra. Not sure where to start? Book a free 20-minute consultation, in person or virtual. We direct bill most extended health plans, at our Port Credit (Mississauga) and Trinity Bellwoods (Toronto) clinics.
Sports massage uses the same hands-on techniques as therapeutic massage, but the session is planned around your sport, your training load and where you are in your season. Your RMT looks at the muscle groups your sport loads hardest, how you move, and any niggles, then adjusts depth, pace and focus to match: lighter and quicker before an event, deeper and more thorough during a training block.
It can help with soreness after training, feeling tight or restricted, recovering between sessions, and keeping small problems from becoming injuries. When pain points to an injury, we coordinate with our physiotherapists or chiropractors so you get the right care.
After a miscarriage in 2023, I wanted to give myself the best chance at a healthy pregnancy. I started working with Tanisha, who took the time to deeply understand my body and goals. She reviewed my diet, prescribed targeted supplements, and created a plan to support fertility and egg quality. Just three months later, I became pregnant. Today, we’re cuddling our newborn baby girl—and I’m forever grateful. Tanisha was not only knowledgeable, but compassionate and empowering throughout the entire journey. I recommend her to anyone looking to take their health—and their future—seriously.
I lived with TMJ for four years—chronic jaw pain, headaches, and constant tension. I tried everything with little relief. AOM was the first place that looked beyond the pain to understand the root cause. Dr. Colby and the team assessed my posture, neck, and overall tension patterns. Their approach was different: holistic, targeted, and rooted in mobility and awareness. Within weeks, my symptoms improved dramatically. I finally felt heard, supported, and seen—not just treated. If you’re dealing with chronic pain and haven’t found answers, AOM is where your healing journey can truly begin.
Before joining Art of Mobility, I was in constant leg pain and couldn’t correct my posture no matter what I tried. The team—Dr. Colby, Justin, and Christian—designed a personalized program combining hands-on therapy and specific exercises. In just a few months, not only did the pain disappear, but I was lifting weights without even feeling sore the next day. I’m now in the best shape of my life and finally understand how my body works. Their patience, care, and encouragement kept me going, and their deep knowledge made all the difference. AOM changed my relationship with movement forever.
I came to AOM dealing with digestive issues and inflammation that no doctor had been able to fully solve. Working with Tanisha gave me a whole new understanding of my health. She created a tailored plan and helped me become more intentional with my habits. Then I started physio with Tharaniya to address chronic lower body pain. Her approach was not just clinical—it was fitness-informed, empowering, and deeply personal. With her help, I’m now moving pain-free and stronger than ever. AOM didn’t just treat my symptoms—they helped me reconnect with my body. This place is one-of-a-kind.
Built around your sport. We ask about your training, upcoming events and the areas your sport stresses, and plan each session around them.
Timed to your calendar. Pre-event, post-event and maintenance sessions each have a different goal and feel.
Part of a bigger plan. For pain that keeps returning, we link in running assessments, physiotherapy, custom orthotics or bracing.
Pre-event (days before, or the morning of). Shorter, lighter and brisker work to help you feel loose without leaving you sore. Avoid deep work for a couple of days before a race or game.
Post-event (24 to 72 hours after). Gentle to moderate work to ease soreness and stiffness after a race, tournament or hard session. Deep pressure is saved for later once tissue has settled.
Maintenance (during training blocks). Regular sessions, often every 2 to 4 weeks, focused on the areas your sport loads most, so tightness is dealt with before it builds.
Your first visit. You'll complete a health history form, then talk through your sport, training, upcoming events and any pain. Your RMT checks how you move, explains the plan and gets your consent.
During the session. Techniques can include deep tissue work, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and assisted stretching, adjusted to your feedback. You're draped throughout, and you can ask for more or less pressure at any time.
After your massage. Drink water, move gently, and expect possible mild soreness for a day or two after deeper work. Let your therapist know at your next visit how you felt.
Our registered massage therapists have experience in sports injuries, headaches, jaw pain, prenatal and postnatal massage, and care for runners, athletes and desk workers.

No. Sports massage suits anyone who trains or stays active, from weekend runners to competitive athletes.
Light pre-event work can be done a day or two before, or the morning of. Avoid deep tissue work in the 2 to 3 days before an event so you aren't sore.
Usually 24 to 72 hours after, starting with gentle to moderate pressure once the initial soreness settles.
During training blocks many athletes book every 2 to 4 weeks. Your RMT will suggest a rhythm based on your training load and goals.
Sports massage is provided by registered massage therapists, so it is usually covered as massage therapy. We offer direct billing with most extended health plans.
It can feel firm, but it shouldn't be painful. Your RMT adjusts pressure to your feedback, and mild soreness for a day or two after deeper work is normal.
